Through these advertisements, Axe is promoting idea that they can help a straight white male age 18 – 24 figure out his “lady problems” with stereotypes and body wash. Their poor taste in humor is only matched by their poor judgment in marketing. Sure, men are their target audience for the product (and according to the commercial, getting rewarded for it), but let’s get real. Women in the household are sometimes also going to be shopping for these products if the need arises. So even though Axe is obviously shooting for humor, shouldn’t they consider that they might alienate a good part of their consumers?
