Hi Darmon, you brought up a very interesting point about artifacts being just fake photo props to please tourists. Basically, Chernobyl became this quirky attraction that people pay big buck for (well, sort of) and it needs to deliver… This doesn’t change my desire to visit it, though. I used to know someone who was involved in cleaning up the mess after the meltdown – he had a great retirement package but also a really bad health.
On a separate note, when I was in North Korea, our guide boasted that ginseng tea not only cures cancer, but also removes all traces of radiation. According to her, North Korea was gracious enough to assist helpless Soviet Union with treating workers from Chernobyl exposed to radiation… just thought you would appreciate this tidbit :)))
